5 Easy Tips Towards Healthy Eating
- Don’t just calorie count to lose weight. That’s right. DO NOT. Calories are energy, and it’s more important to eat right than to eat a lot less. Seriously. Don’t.
- You should never deprive yourself. That’s right, you enjoy that double chocolate cake… In moderation. That’s the key. You can eat “bad” things that you like on occasion, it’s just important to have portion control.
- Prepare meals for the week on the weekend. Grab your fruits and veggies, protein source, etc., and ziplock bag and refrigerate the ingredients! - Smart snacking leads to smart eating, so try substituting chips for unsalted nuts (almonds are my favorite- bonus: they’re chock full of protein!), candy for fruit, and even ice cream for frozen yogurt, or almond/coconut milk ice cream.
- Cut down on sodas, and increase your water intake. There is so much sugar in soda, and supposedly, some companies have put addictive substances in their drinks. Be strong. Also- STOP DRINKING ENERGY DRINKS. They’re the worst thing you could possibly do to yourself, soft drink-wise. If you NEED caffeine (we’ve all been there) try drinking coffee instead, or better yet, caffeinated herbal tea. I’ve never been a tea person, but I can stand to drink chamomile.

Love your article 🙂 I usually make sure that i drink plenty of water (and other fluids such as herbal teas) to keep myself hydrated throughout the day. Often many people confuse thirst with hunger. Water keeps you full and helps to prevent overeating, so glass of water before each meal is also a good idea 🙂

Good advice – but camomile, although great for soothing and calming at the end of the day, doesn’t have caffeine. I drink green tea for a hit of caffeine – although I also like Earl Grey! And I agree 110% (as the jocks say) – sports drinks are just vile.

Have you tried adding lemon to green tea with a drop or two of stevia? I’ve also enjoyed it with a bit of milk and stevia – both options take the grassy taste away. Also, if you let it steep only for a minute or two, it won’t taste as bitter. Try a few different brands as well – some are less grassy/bitter than others.

Love this – as I’m recovering from an eating disorder eating healthily is a big thing for me and this pretty much sums all the important points. The moderation point is key I think and I’m working hard to make sure that I do allow myself treats in moderation 🙂
